浅煎り / light roast (coffee)
浅煎り (asa-iri) refers to light roast coffee, where the beans are roasted for a shorter time. This style preserves the coffee’s natural acidity and highlights fruity or floral flavors, making it especially popular among specialty coffee enthusiasts. In Japan’s coffee culture, 浅煎り is valued for its bright, refreshing taste that contrasts with the deeper bitterness of medium 中煎り (naka-iri) or dark roasts 深煎り (fuka-iri).
