Welcome to Episode 90 of Ohazassu Japan. If you follow me on X, you'll know that I recently went back to Australia to visit and spend time with my family.

It was an interesting trip, during which I made some observations and reflected on a few things. Doesn't it make things interesting when you live in another country long term? Some views and opinions evolve - some stay the same.

Sydney Bus Timetables: A Puzzle or a Schedule? 🧩🚌

Snapped this photo of a Sydney bus timetable and… yeah, good luck figuring it out at a glance 😅

Compared to the clean and super user-friendly bus schedules in Japan, this one feels like it needs a decoder ring.

Just another little everyday difference I’ve noticed between the two countries...

If You Could Fly Home Anytime… ✈️🌏

At the start of this podcast episode, I mentioned a question I threw out there for folks living in Japan: If time and money weren’t a problem, how often would you go back to your home country?

It’s something I’ve been thinking about lately, and I was interested to hear what others thought.

I got a wide range of responses. Thanks to everyone who responded 🙏

Toothbrush Upgrade & a Bit of a Bargain

Alright, so I was due for a new electric toothbrush and ended up popping into BIC Camera at Nagoya Station.

What started as a quick stop turned into a bit of a mission.

If you're in Japan and thinking about upgrading your toothbrush, this post might give you a few tips and maybe even save you some cash.

The campaign is on at all the usual large electronics stores like BIC Camera and Yodobashi.

Ends on August 31. Maximum cashback of up to 8,000 yen!

Yes, You Read That Right: Koala Poo Chocolates 🐨💩

Spotted these at Sydney International Airport and couldn’t stop laughing. Milk chocolates shaped like koala poo. Only in Australia, right? 😂

If you're after a quirky souvenir or just want to make someone laugh, these are gold. Check 'em out!

Australia vs Japan: The Airport Sign Showdown ✈️🍻

Saw some pretty intense signs at the international airport warning people not to get drunk before flying... and I couldn’t help but compare it to how Japan handles things.

Talked about it on the podcast a little. The difference in tone and style between Aussie and Japanese signage is pretty wild.

Have a look and tell me what you reckon.
