二次会 / after-party
二次会 (nijikai) refers to the “second party” that takes place after a main event like a wedding reception, company party, or year-end gathering. While the first party is usually more formal, 二次会 is more relaxed—often at a bar, karaoke spot, or izakaya—where people can unwind, mingle more freely, and continue the fun. It’s a common part of social culture in Japan.
