教室 (kyōshitsu) means classroom, the place where lessons are taught and students learn. It’s commonly used in schools, universities, and language institutes, but it can also refer to specialized classes such as 料理教室 (cooking class) or 英会話教室 (English conversation school). In Japan, 教室 often evokes a structured learning environment and the everyday rhythm of student life.
