In what ways have you benefited from knowing the language?
For me, there were some obvious benefits when I first moved here... career, lifestyle, meeting people, etc. But there have been a couple of unexpected benefits, some which have profoundly moved me.
One involves family matters, while the other is tied to a life-changing event that happened here in Japan.
It’s just my opinion, but if you're living in Japan, I genuinely believe it's important to know the language. This may seem obvious, but what isn’t always obvious is just how deeply it can shape your life.
