塩分 / salt content
塩分 (enbun) refers to the amount of salt in food or drink. It’s a common term on nutrition labels and in health discussions in Japan, where managing 塩分 intake is important for preventing high blood pressure and maintaining overall well-being. Many packaged foods list their 塩分 to help consumers make informed dietary choices.
水分 / water content
水分 (suibun) refers to the water content in something—whether it’s the moisture in food or the hydration level in the human body. In health and wellness contexts, 水分補給 (suibun hokyū), meaning “hydration,” is especially important in Japan’s hot and humid summers. The term is also used in cooking, agriculture, and skincare to describe moisture levels.
