衣替え / seasonal wardrobe switch
衣替え (koromogae) refers to the traditional Japanese custom of switching out your wardrobe with the changing seasons—typically from summer to winter clothes and vice versa. Schools, companies, and even uniforms follow this practice, often around June and October. It’s a way to stay comfortable and fresh as the weather shifts, and it reflects Japan’s deep awareness of seasonal change in daily life.
